Library
Welcome to the Kenwood Elementary Library
Library/Media Class
-
Kenwood students have library class once a week.
-
Students will learn about research, technology, digital citizenship, and literature appreciation in library class. Students check out books during library class as well.
Book Checkout Procedures
Kenwood students have the opportunity to check out books during their weekly visit to the library, and on an as needed basic. Classroom teachers may arrange other appropriate times to check out a book when students need a new book to read.
Kindergarten and 1st grade students may have one book checked out at a time. If a student forgets his/her library book on library day, then he/she can bring back the book anytime during the week to check out a new book.
2nd and 3rd grade students may check out two books every week during library class. It is important that students choose books that interest them. Out goal is to have students reading every day. I usually recommend one book for fun and one book in their AR reading level.
4th and 5th grade students may check out two books each week during their library class, and on an as-needed basis. Books that are overdue, lost, or damaged must be found or paid for before summer vacation.
