Library

Welcome to the Kenwood Elementary Library
Library/Media Class
-
Kenwood students have library class once a week.
-
Students check out books during library class and when they need a new book during the school day. Students will learn/review book care, acceptable use of KPS network, technology resources and Internet access, research skills, Google apps for education, digital citizenship, and literature appreciation.
Book Checkout Procedures
Kenwood students have the opportunity to check out books during their weekly visit to the library, and on an as-needed basis. Classroom teachers may arrange other appropriate times to check out a book when students need a new book to read.
Kindergarten and 1st grade students may have one book checked out at a time. If a student forgets his/her library book on library day, then he/she can bring back the book anytime during the week to check out a new book.
2nd and 3rd grade students may check out two books every week during library class. It is important that students choose books that interest them. Our goal is to have students reading every day. I usually recommend one book for fun and one book at their reading level.
4th and 5th grade students may check out two books each week during their library class, and on an as-needed basis.
Reminder: Library books that are lost or damaged must be paid for before summer vacation.
